Carers Week 2026 – Building Carer Friendly Communities

8th – 14th June 2026

Carers Week is an annual campaign dedicated to raising awareness of caring, recognising the contribution unpaid carers make to families and communities, and helping carers access the support they need.

This year's theme, "Building Carer Friendly Communities", highlights the importance of ensuring workplaces, GP practices, local organisations, and communities provide practical support and recognition so that carers are not left to cope alone.

Meet with Sandwell Carers at The Lyng Centre

As part of Carers Week, representatives from Sandwell Carers will be available at The Lyng Centre, West Bromwich, on:

Monday 8th June 2026
10:00am – 12:00pm

They will be available to offer information, advice, and support to unpaid carers, including guidance on local services, carers' rights, wellbeing support, and available resources.

Please also take a look at the Sandwell Carers Service Leaflet attached to this article, which contains further information about the support available, upcoming activities, and other locations where you can access help and advice throughout the borough.

Find Local Events

Hundreds of in-person and online events, drop-in sessions, workshops, and support groups will be taking place across the UK throughout Carers Week. These events provide opportunities to access advice, connect with other carers, and learn about available support services.

Support and Resources

If you provide unpaid care for a family member, friend, or neighbour, a range of organisations offer advice and support:

• Carers UK – Information on carers' rights, financial support, wellbeing, and balancing work with caring responsibilities.
• Macmillan Cancer Support – Specialist support and resources for those caring for someone affected by cancer.
• Carers First – Practical guidance, wellbeing support, online courses, and local services for carers.

Financial Support

Some unpaid carers may be eligible for Carer's Allowance, currently £86.45 per week, if they care for someone for at least 35 hours per week and meet the eligibility criteria.

If you are a carer and would like advice or support, please speak to a member of our team, attend the Sandwell Carers information session at The Lyng Centre, or refer to the attached leaflet for details of additional services and support available locally.
